American Entrepreneurs number in the millions. So who are these people we call entrepreneurs? What do they have in common? While there are no absolutes, there are some general observations we can make about entrepreneurs.
So What Makes A Successful Entrepreneur?
I believe that entrepreneurs must possess Five basic qualities which will enable them to reach their fullest potential. These attributes are simple when you think about them. However, they are critical to your success or failure. What are these qualities? What do they entail? Let’s examine them and see if you’re truly ready to begin the journey.
The FIVE D’s for Success:
· Desire
· Diligence
· Details
· Discipline
· Determination
Desire is the vision that burns in the heart of each entrepreneur. If your desire is not strong enough, or does not fuel your flame for fame, your failure will be certain.
Diligence is simply put … making the most of every opportunity and options. It sometimes can mean turning lemons into lemon aide. You have to be will to developed your strengths and overcome any lack of skills, education, space or money.
Details, Most entrepreneurs are excellent organizers. Organizational systems are an important tool to your success. Use what works for you, just get organize. You’ll rarely ever find a successful entrepreneur without the ability to focus on details and be organized.
Discipline is the sister of detail because it is hard to have one without the other. It requires sacrifice. It also requires you to do things that maybe considered difficult, or even uncomfortable. A successful salesman once told me that “In sales you got to like everybody”. That takes discipline!
Determination is … “when the rough is going the tough keep going!” It is also the combination of Desire and Diligence. Determination is truly the measure of one’s character. It is seeing your dream through to completion and not letting others get you down.
